Endowed Giving

One of the greatest gifts you can give to SAU is creating or adding to an endowed fund.  Endowments are conduits that allow alumni and friends to help the students of today and tomorrow.  Endowments are a powerful investment in Southern Arkansas University’s future as they deliver a dependable, perpetual source of funding through the SAU Foundation.  When you establish an endowment, the funds are invested instead of being spent immediately.  Each year, a percentage of the return is made available to the University, directed toward the area of your passion.

SAU Alumna and Employee Leaves a Legacy

Gaye Manning has been an employee of the Southern Arkansas University system since 1984 when she was hired as assistant personnel at SAU Tech. Thirty-nine years later, she is serving as both interim chancellor and vice chancellor for finance and administration. With retirement set for December of 2023, Manning intends to leave a portion of her estate to SAU.

Three Reasons Why I Support SAU

Reason One for my support is that it is a way of paying back, with gratitude, for the great education I received that prepared me for medical school.

SAU Receives Endowment from Windgate Foundation

Southern Arkansas University proudly announces a continued partnership with the Windgate Foundation through a transformative, multi-year grant of $400,000. This grant will provide annual contributions of $200,000 over two years, supporting the Windgate Scholars Program, a program that focuses on the most financially vulnerable students, and the College of Education and Human Performance.

Why I Give: Joey Baker

A desire to generously give back to his community in a significant way inspired Joey Baker (77) to endow the Emerson, Arkansas Scholarship for students from his hometown who choose to make Southern Arkansas University their college home.

“Emerson School and SAU helped shape who I am today,” Baker said. “I want to give back to them both in a meaningful way.”

SAU Receives Grant from ANCRC

Southern Arkansas University has received its largest grant to date from the Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Council (ANCRC) to benefit two restoration projects: Talley Hall and Mt. Prospect Church. The grant amounts to a total of $2.013 million.

Endowment Basics

Endowments grow over time through long-term investment returns.  These returns provide annual distributions of 4.25% plus a small administrative fee of 0.50% to SAU based on a 12-quarter trailing average of the fair market value (FMV) of the total endowment fund as of December 31 of the prior fiscal year.  Any other earnings above the annual distribution are reinvested to continue increasing the impact of your generosity.  Our investment strategy is set and monitored by the SAU Foundation Board of Governors and its Investment Committee.
Completely funded endowments are recognized through placement in the Foundation Honor Wall located in the Donald W. Reynolds Center as well as at the annual Foundation Honor Societies Dinner.
